UK visa & immigration
advice from India.

UK Immigration Solicitor in India for UK Visa applications.

UK immigration rules are technical, documentary, and unforgiving of error. We are a dual-qualified practice — Indian advocate and England & Wales solicitor — advising and representing clients on UK visa applications, refusals, appeals, and settlement matters from India.

UK visa applications are not judged on intention alone. They are judged on the evidence filed, the accuracy of the forms, and the correct application of the Immigration Rules. A strong case can be refused for a missing document; a refusal can often be overturned on appeal or administrative review — but only if it is identified and acted on promptly.

We advise and represent clients across the full range of UK immigration matters, from initial applications through to refusals, appeals, and settlement. Because we are qualified in both jurisdictions, we are able to give advice that is grounded in Indian documentary practice and framed for UK decision-makers.

What we handle

Our UK immigration practice covers:

  • Visa applications. All common UK visa categories — visit, spouse and settlement, student, business, work, and family visas.
  • Refusals and reconsideration. Review of refusal decisions, administrative review before the British High Commission or UKVI, and, where available, appeals.
  • Appeals before the UK Tribunal. Representation in appeals before the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) and, where necessary, onwards to the Upper Tribunal.
  • Sponsorship and dependants. Advice for sponsors and dependants, including the documentary and relationship evidence required by the Rules.
  • Settlement and citizenship. Indefinite Leave to Remain, British naturalisation, and British passport applications.
  • Domestic violence cases. Advice and representation on behalf of spouses facing domestic violence in the UK, including the immigration consequences.
  • Administrative review. Filing and pursuing administrative reviews of refusal decisions made by UKVI and British diplomatic posts.
  • Other categories. Preparation and representation on a wide range of other UK visa categories, both inside and outside the UK.

Why qualification matters

There is no shortage of UK visa "consultants" in India. Many are unqualified, unauthorised, and not regulated by any professional body. The consequences of poor advice are serious: a badly prepared application can result in refusal, a wasted fee, and a damaging immigration history.

We approach UK immigration as a legal practice. That means the advice you receive is grounded in the Immigration Rules, in reported decisions, and in a professional duty to act in your interest. It also means we are able to represent you formally before UKVI, the British High Commission, and the UK Tribunal — something an unregulated consultant cannot do.

Initial consultation

We offer a paid initial consultation to every prospective UK immigration client. This gives us the opportunity to assess the merits of the matter, identify the correct visa route, and advise on realistic prospects. It also allows you to decide whether to instruct us after receiving that assessment.

Our fees for the substantive engagement are fixed on a matter-by-matter basis, quoted in writing before any work begins. We do not surprise clients with hidden charges. Consultations can be held in person at our chambers, or remotely by WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, or telephone.

How we prepare an application

Every application we prepare is built the same way — carefully, in writing, and in the order that UKVI expects to see it:

  • Assessment. A full and professional assessment of your case, the correct visa route, and any alternative categories worth considering.
  • Strength and weakness analysis. An honest identification of the strong and weak points of your application before it is filed.
  • Document list. A precise list of the documents you need to provide — no more, no fewer.
  • Evidence guidance. Advice on the form and content of the evidence required, including what to avoid.
  • Third-party instructions. Drafting the letters we need from your sponsor, relative, employer, college, or bank where required.
  • Forms and appendices. Completion of the visa application forms and any appendices, checked for accuracy.
  • Final document check. A full check of every document before submission to the British Embassy or UKVI.
  • Representation letters. Drafting of the cover letter and representations that explain your case to the decision-maker.
  • Bundle preparation. Assembly of a professionally paginated and indexed application bundle.
  • Translations. Certified translations of the relevant documents.
  • VFS appointment. Booking of your appointment at VFS India and coordination of the biometric submission.
  • Filing and representation. Submission of the application to the British Diplomatic Post in India or to UKVI in the UK.
  • Correspondence. All correspondence with the Home Office or the British Diplomatic Post as and when required.
  • Updates. Keeping you informed by email, telephone, or message as correspondence progresses.
  • Support until decision. Ongoing visa application support until your application has been decided by UKVI.
  • Post-decision assistance. In-country and out-of-country immigration assistance following the decision, where required.

If your visa is refused

A UK visa refusal is not the end of the matter. Many refusals are wrong in law, wrong in fact, or wrong because the decision-maker has misread the evidence. Others are curable — where the correct remedy is a fresh application rather than an appeal or administrative review.

We advise on the correct remedy in each case: administrative review, appeal to the Tribunal, or a fresh application. Where an appeal or review is the right route, we prepare and pursue it — including drafting the grounds, filing the notice, and appearing before the Tribunal if required.

Frequently Asked

Questions on UK visas & immigration.

Can a lawyer in India represent me on a UK visa application? +

Yes, provided the lawyer is qualified to advise on UK immigration law. Kavao Law's principal counsel is qualified both as an Indian advocate and as a Solicitor of England & Wales. We prepare and file UK visa applications, draft representations, and correspond with UKVI and the British High Commission on your behalf — and we coordinate with UK counsel where a Tribunal appearance is required.

My UK visa was refused. What are my options? +

There are usually three possible remedies: administrative review, appeal (where a right of appeal exists), or a fresh application. The correct remedy depends on the visa category, the ground of refusal, and whether a right of appeal arose. We review your refusal and advise in writing on the appropriate route before you decide how to proceed.

How long does a UK visa application take? +

Processing times vary by visa category and by the workload of the decision-making post at the time. Standard visitor and student applications are typically decided within a few weeks; settlement and family applications take longer. We give you a realistic estimate at the outset based on current published times, and we flag any category where priority or super-priority services may be available.

Do you offer initial consultations remotely? +

Yes. Consultations can be held in person at our Ludhiana chambers, or remotely by WhatsApp, Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, or telephone. Most of our UK immigration clients are overseas, and the process is designed to work entirely remotely if that is more convenient.

Are your fees fixed? +

Our fees for the substantive work on a matter are fixed and quoted in writing before work begins. The initial consultation is a paid consultation, after which you decide whether to instruct us. We do not charge by the hour for standard UK visa matters, and we do not add hidden costs.

UK visa question or a refusal to challenge?

Tell us what you are applying for, or what has been refused. We will reply within one business day with a clear view of the correct route and the prospects of success.
