About Kavao

India-qualified.
Practising across borders.

Cross-border legal counsel for NRIs, businesses & families.

Kavao exists for one reason: an Indian legal matter with a foreign dimension deserves a lawyer who treats both halves as equally real.

Why Kavao Law exists

Kavao Law is a cross-border legal practice handling matters connected with India, the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Western Asia, and other jurisdictions. We work with foreign nationals and international businesses, foreign lawyers and law firms, and with overseas individuals and families, including Non Resident Indians (NRIs).

The founder and principal counsel of Kavao Law is qualified in both India and the United Kingdom. He graduated in Law in India in 2002 and was admitted as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh. In 2009, he was admitted as a Solicitor of England & Wales through the qualifying route for foreign lawyers, having completed the course of study from Oxford Brookes University, London, and also registered in Ireland with the Law Society of Ireland. Those qualifications are personal to the individual concerned and do not imply that the firm, every team member, or any entity personally holds them.

That dual perspective informs how the practice approaches every matter — from understanding how an Indian court will read a document, to recognising how a UK authority will approach the same question.

Kavao Law was formerly known as NRI Law Offices and its work today spans the matters that cross the India–abroad line — for NRIs, foreign nationals, and international businesses.

Our Approach

How we think about cross-border matters.

01

One point of coordination

Every matter is anchored in a single point of contact who understands the full picture, the jurisdictions involved, and the practical steps required.

02

Command of the Indian side

We know the local process, the courts, the authorities, and how they interact with international legal frameworks. That knowledge is the foundation of practical advice.

03

Clarity in writing, always

Before any work begins, we set out the routes available, their limits, the likely timeline, and the information still required. No surprises.

How We Work

A clear path from enquiry to outcome.

Every matter begins with understanding what you are facing, what the law allows, and what the next practical step is.

01

Consultation

You describe the matter and the jurisdictions involved. We listen, ask the questions that matter, and confirm whether we can assist.

02

Review

We examine your documents, chronology, and any prior proceedings. Where another jurisdiction is involved, we identify what local counsel may need to do.

03

Plan

We set out the available routes, their practical limits, the likely timeline, and the information still required — in writing, before any work proceeds.

04

Act

We carry out the agreed work, keep you informed at each stage, and coordinate with local counsel where another jurisdiction is engaged.
